Oh so the tubby bloke off of Extra’s has perhaps realised he’s useless on his own then?

Doubt it, but it is encouraging to see that the widest arsehole in British Comedy (packed full of Fleet Street’s finest) has reunited with the unnervingly tall Stephen Merchant with whom he co-wrote The Office.

The movie has a working title of The Men at the Pru and is set in an office of The Prudential in the early 1970s

“They work for the building society and they’re having a great time but it’s about them coming of age and having to grow up,” Gervais says.

Gervais says writing with Merchant is going well and the pair have been doing thorough research.

“We’re really getting excited. We went down to the Prudential headquarters and got all this old footage so we’re really getting into it.”

It sounds promising, and a bit Office-esque; I’ll give him a chance as far as this one is concerned. The less whoring around Hollywood, the better, frankly.
