I like to write a bit about comedy, perhaps contribute to NewsBiscuit.com and perhaps I even fancy myself as a standup...

Despite not coming anywhere near the Quintessential Comedy HQ, we simply must mention the fact that Dara O’Briain is on tour.

He’s at St Albans on Tuesday, and from there moves on across the south of England and Wales, over to Northern Ireland, some more dates in the Midlands and then he manages to come north; well to York and Carlisle, cleverly missing out Teesside, Wearside and Newcastle.

Bit miffed about that myself, but having seen his live DVD I would urge anyone who enjoys a good live comedy performance who hasn’t seen the big man yet to make your way out to see him.

The Times have described him this weekend thus:

As reliably good a stand-up as we have in this country.

I’m not sure what that means - are The Times claiming that he earns so much in Britain that we now own him?
