Doddy Statue
Not before time, Ken Dodd is soon to be honoured in statue form.
The distinctive comic - the last vestige of the music hall era - is to be unveiled greeting late Labour MP Bessie Braddock and has as been commissioned by Merseytravel and will be designed by Liverpool-based artist Tom Murphy.
It will be situated in the city’s Lime Street Station.
Neil Scales, Merseytravel chief executive, said: “This is our personal tribute to a man who continues to bring laughter to millions of people.
“Lime Street is one of our most important gateways and, in terms of public art on our network; this will be one of the jewels in our crown.
“Doddy and Battling Bessie will certainly provide a unique welcoming committee!”
You can’t fault them, can you?
(I wonder how long it will be before Vic & Bob are honoured in Teesside or Durham…?)
