Eric & Ern

There really isn’t enough Morecambe & Wise in the world, and this really is something I plan to redress.

As such, I’d like you to consider this list below of reasons why you should go over to Youtube and watch some Eric & Ern, or buy a DVD.

* Eric Morecambe was one of the singularly funniest people who ever walked the earth

* Their partnership began when they were children, and endured for around 50 years

* They were the most successful double act on British television for a reason.

* Morecambe & Wise flew the flag for British entertainment in the USA, appearing on The Ed Sullivan Show. If only the Americans knew what they were missing…

* Their heroes were Laurel and Hardy, and Charlie Chaplin. Not a bad aspiration.

* They were able to invite onto their shows – and ridicule – a range of respected showbusiness figures from Des O’Connor (yes I know) to Andre Previn, Peter Cushing, Shirley Bassey, Elton John, Paul McCartney, Edward Woodward, Susannah York, PM Harold Wilson, Cliff Richard, Dame Diana Rigg and tonnes more.
