Catherine Tate…
Death of a sacred cow #2 - why oh why does the very funny Catherine Tate want to be seen as a straight actress? Her serious performances to date have been nothing short of tedious retreads of her vilest creations. There are years left in some of these, in particular Lauren. Tate’s sketch show is a rare thing - reflections of real, repulsive people, as opposed to the insane nonsense of Little Britain or the high-end caricatures of Harry Enfield.
Versatility is one thing - but Tate’s monsters are too vivid to be ignored when we see her playing straight drama.
