Weekend of Comedy

Friday, August 1st, 2008

If Dad’s Army birthday celebrations on Sunday night aren’t your cup of tea, why not settle down with another excellent Would I Lie To You? tonight and a repeat of Mock the Week on Saturday night?

You can get past the fact that Angus Deayton currently looks older than Clive Dunn, and that David Mitchell still looks like he goes to school, as well as ignore the fact that Dara O’ Braian rarely gets a look in on Mock the Week these days as Frankie Boyle, Andy Parsons and Hugh Dennis in particular fight for supremacy.

Incidentally, have you noticed the lack of women on Mock the Week? It’s hardly a surprise of course - the ones that they do invite seem to make arses of themselves the first time they open their mouths.

Women - know your limits!

Tommy Mockers!

mock.jpgDelighted to say that Mock the Week is back on Thursday!

That’s right, the funniest man in Ireland Dara O’Braian and his teams return with the usual irreverent look at the weeks’ news.

For newcomers - it’s a sort of Have I Got News For You mixed with Whose Line Is It Anyway?, recorded in front of a studio audience the same day, and features the crushingly funny Frankie Boyle and Andy Parsons along with various others, including regular captain Hugh Dennis.

Certainly not worth missing for any fan of comedy - tune in Thursday 10th July at 9pm BBC TWO

Frankie Boyle Live

Monday, June 23rd, 2008

mock.jpgThe Scottish Mock the Week star is appearing at the Hackney Empire, Mare Street, E8 this Saturday and Sunday for a stand-up show that will be recorded for his first live performance DVD.

Not before time, either - along with co-star Andy Parsons and host Dara O’Briain, Boyle tightens up Mock the Week to such an extent that many of the misfiring guests can be forgiven.

(I’m not mentioning any names.  They’re nearly all female)

This is, then, certainly a show not to be missed, if only to get yourself on the front row and onto a DVD.
