The Stephen K Amos Show

“Obviously I’m thrilled – although now my mum will find out I’m a stand-up comedian. She thinks I drive a minicab.”
Not before time, a black comic has got a show on the BBC - and he’s not Lenny Henry!
Stephen K Amos has been a regular on various panel shows (particularly Have I Got News For [...]

Old Jokes Unearthed

This in itself reads like something from a jokebook, perhaps a distant relative of the Not the Nine O’Clock News sketch based on the discussion of a film about the Pythons (spoofing discussion and controversy over The Life of Brian upon its release).
[singlepic=57,320,240,,left]Hierrcles and Philagrius are the ancient Greek duo (residing in the 4th century) [...]

Fawlty Reunion

You may have seen the brief reuniting of Andrew Sachs and John Cleese on Prince Charles’s 60th birthday celebrations thing last night on ITV1 - or even at the venue itself - in aid of the Princes’ Trust.
It was a slightly odd moment, but not without a feeling of nostalgia, and was completely at home [...]

No More Wanking

This is a superb sketch from the underrated Big Train in 1998.
Tom Henderson New Office Manager declares a “no wanking” policy in the office workplace, leading to vociferous protests from the team (which includes SImon Pegg).

Lee Mack - How not to be an extra

The following clip may offend fans of Ricky Gervais, portraying as it does a funny scene relating to extras building up their parts, and doesn’t result in cheap pisstakes of celebrities.
Starring Lee Mack and Jim Tavare from The Sketch Show!

Brilliant!

Paul Whitehouse in one of the superb monologues from The Fast Show.
It’s pretty difficult to pick one out from the available selection as every visit of this character to our screens was one of joy and pleasure - and proof of Whitehouse’s ability to draw and portray comedy characters with apparent ease.

SPAM

It’s virtually impossible to describe just how vital this sketch is to our comedy heritage without sounding like a total t*sspot and spouting phrases like “comedy heritage”.
Monty Python’s Flying Circus contained so many wonderful moments, so good in fact that it took me a while to settle on this clip.
In the end, however, an unwanted [...]

Stanley Baxter - Upstage Downstage

To celebrate the news of a return to TV for the great Stanley Baxter - if only for one night - feast your eyes on a superb spoof of the popular 1970s British drama Upstairs Downstairs.
Baxter’s Gordon Jackson (the butler, Hudson) alone is sublime.

Stanley Baxter Returns!

So formulating an interesting post about Have I Got News For You, I was blown away to discover that TV favourite Stanley Baxter is making a return to television for a one-off Christmas special.
John Kaye Cooper of ITV has commissioned the show:
“For over two decades Stanley’s award-winning shows were pure comedy gold, and we are [...]

Singin’ in the Rain

If this isn’t comedy gold from Eric Morecambe and Ernie Wise, I don’t know what is…
