Great news for comedy fans that like to get their fix online - Comedy Demon is set to revolutionise your lives with high hopes of becoming the UKs biggest online comedy destination with content such as Peep Show and live standup routines.

Currently live and online, Comedy Demon has been launched by RDF Digital, with ads set to start appearing soon on the cable and satellite TV channel, Dave.

(I’ve quite got the reference there - is it Red Dwarf (”They’re dead Dave”), Only Fools and Horses (”Alright Dave?”) or The League of Gentlemen (”You’re my wife now Dave!”)?

It’s basically a huge repository of audio and video media, a ready-made behemoth to the tackle the long-established Chortle. Question is, is it what comedy is about, or just a media company cash-in?

Looks like something to keep an eye on…

Just browsing the web the other day, I stumbled across the results of Channel 4’s 50 Greatest Comedy Sketches (2006?). It’s a good mix of contemporary and classic, and despite giving the award to Little Britain I feel that the rest of the table is a pretty good reflection.

In fact the only really contentious point is the presence of The League of Gentlemen, confirming that no one seems to know whether it is a sketch show or a sitcom.
